Chloe Kimes is an independent artist and songwriter based in Nashville, TN and hers is a name you ought to know. Consistently producing difficult and honest storytelling, incomparable vocal delivery, and an undeniable sound, she needs not much explanation but simply your attendance at her show to see and know the real Kimes. Her forthcoming album Daredevil, due October 16, presents a collection of songs that exude the same authenticity. With her bare-all approach, Kimes has built a reputation as one of the most compelling emerging voices in the Americana scene. Her songs carry grit, warmth, and the hushed tone of a well kept secret. Vivid lyrical imagery paired with a spirit that is deeply relatable and intimately her own is only bolstered by a rafter-reaching vocal talent.

Raised on the lakeshores of western Michigan, Kimes has been honing her craft and independently building an audience from Nashville, TN for over a decade. Through relentless touring and a deeply personal connection with audiences, she’s carving out her place among the next generation of great Americana troubadours while redefining the genre on her own terms.

After the release of her 2022 debut self-titled record, she wrote the viral hit “Coors Light”, an uninhibited ode to her love of drinking beer, playing in a band, and finding contentment in the small treasures of life. In the wake of internet spotlight and an Album of the Year Jammie Award from her homestate’s WYCE Michigan Public Radio, Kimes forged ahead with a focus on reaching her growing audience through a defiant courage to be herself and the tenacity to do it without the support of a record label. Written over a couple of years of near constant travel, Kimes took the lessons, doubts, disciplines, and fears tied to being an independent touring artist and created Daredevil, a record that coalesces years of hard work and hard knocks. In her sophomore release, Kimes substantiates her own tendency to present the complicated parts of life in a sweeping diorama of thought and feeling while addressing the elephant in every room and leaving you glad she did.

Chloe Kimes found the stage early, writing songs before the age of ten and extensively working the live music circuit of Michigan through her teens. Relocating to Tennessee in 2016, she elevated her self-taught country music raising to a songwriting degree from Middle Tennessee State University. In her time at MTSU she also became involved as a DJ at Middle Tennessee’s Americana Public Radio station 89.5 WMOT Roots Radio and continues to share her passion for roots music and public radio weekly on the air. While Kimes has been tirelessly band-leading, touring, recording, and hustling as a full-time independent musician since 2021, the last couple years of travel have brought her coast to coast and around the world. She has toured alongside the likes of Sarah Shook and the Diarmers, Lola Kirke, Brent Cobb, and in Nashville, opened for Jelly Roll.

With no plans to slow down, you will find Kimes in cities across America playing and promoting Daredevil in the coming year. On a mission to continue writing and living her daring truth, Kimes is stepping into her sophomore era surefooted. While Daredevil captures the beauty of uncertainty and the freedom of finding joy alongside it, Kimes’ delivery of herself is a feat you’ll just have to see to believe.
